- 3.0 out of 5 stars from Erika -- Melancholy : The first three quarters of the book were so sad. The main character experienced so much pain and disappointment. Her relationships with her mother, her Aunty, and her classmates were so troubled. I found myself enjoying the last quarter of the book when she began to focus on her passion to dance. Overall, it was a decent enough read to keep my attention. It was a quick, easy story but I wouldn’t read this again. ( Reviewed in the United States on January 23, 2021 )

I have actually never read a story like this written in verse, and while it took me a minute to really catch on to the flow or maybe even the freeness of verse, I eventually fell in love. Ada is the daughter of an immigrant father and an African-American mother. Her mother suffers from addiction and her father has placed heavy expectations on his first born daughter.
